Introduction

California - Where everyone wants to be. The Golden State, the Hot Spot, party central blah blah blah. That is what T.V., magazines, and movies want you to think. My friends and I, we know what it is really like to live here.

Behind all the glamour and twinkle of our lives is the real, gritty truth about the big CA. The place where “perfect” hair, skin, teeth, and nails are purchased on a regular basis. Where the word “gorgeous” is applied to every girl. But for us, we like the imperfections-it gives us something to do.

Past the beautiful Beverly Hills, scandalous Orange County, and numerous, glistening beaches is a place we call home. Keep going just ahead of Los Angeles, the city known for glitz, that just oozes celebrity gossip, and you will find it. Northern California or NORCAL as we call it.

You see, there is more to Cali than just the sparkle, shine, and fantasy so commonly publicized on T.V. The fabulous lives that we live (And that you adore) come with a price that not all are ready to pay. You have to be on top of the competition, or you get eaten alive-simple as that. For some of us that competitive drive comes natural. As for the rest, well, you will see for yourself.

In the suburbs of NorCal is where you will find my girls and I. 707 is the area code we rep with pride. We live a small town life, filled to the top with major drama. Most people cannot handle the pressure of always having to be better than everyone is. We thrive on it.

So, you’re probably wondering who “we” are. You will find out in due time, but until you reach that point there are some things you should know about us. We are the girls that YOU want to be like (but don’t have the guts or the cash to be). We are the girls you love to hate, and we sure as hell know it.

We are the kids that have beautiful beach homes up and down the California Coast, and kick-ass vacation spots across the Mediterranean-but you will never see us flaunting it on TV. We are the girls that rock designer denim like it’s nothin’, and those sinfully delicious boys that we call friends sport their equally luxurious duds, but we don’t feel the need to show off our shit. We know we are fabulous, and we don’t need Reality TV to prove it.

I hope you prepared yourself for this because there is no turning back now. But why would you want to? I mean let’s face it- you are already intrigued by our lives. Now get ready to plunge in head first, and experience all the drama that’s just as juicy as what you have come to believe. Except the experiences you are about to take part in second-hand are real.

But before you assume that this is just another teenage book about teenage kids doing teenage things, know that this book comes with lessons. Lessons that, if noticed and considered, can help you to make better decisions in your own life. I hope that you see them when they are presented to you, and that you take the opportunity to learn them. If you don’t catch on initially, there will be plenty of time to figure them out as the story goes on. But before you read on— which I know you are just dying to do—I will give you one piece of advice that will get you through not only our adventures, but the ones that you will have in your own life that have yet to come: Though the love and heartbreaks might seem to tough to bear, though the rumors may actually be true, though there may be more bad days than good sometimes, and though you make look up one day expecting someone to be there only to find them gone forever, life does go on. And you will get through it. I promise! I mean…we all did.
